Karen Hawkins, a masterful artist with a unique vision, delves into the world of archeological exploration through her thought-provoking work. Her latest collection takes you on a transformative journey, reimagining the very essence of books and reshaping them into new artistic forms.
In Karen's own words, "My work is an archeological exploration into the structure and content of the book. In these works, my goal is to transform how a book functions, to remove it from its familiar construction and reinterpret it as new and visually meaningful."
Her process involves challenging the physical boundaries of each book, turning them into objects of art, detached from their traditional roles as carriers of literature, science, or history. As the books undergo this objectification process, a shifting beauty emerges, revealing a whole new form.
